First heard on CPR Volume 1, this song is a future echo from “Joseph’s Dream”, the coming 2 CD set from Vertical Alignment based on the original fantasy / sci-fi novel of the same name. OIAD received extensive airplay on the web and in select on air markets. Enjoy the song that started it all!
A just-for-fun instrumental tune. A synthesis of techno and prog, the song is laced with some blugrass influence.
*And* the collaboration that started the friendship between Peter J and Mike Adams that led to Mike becoming the VA drummer…
Presenting:
Prog Positivity Jam Band One!
in an original tune conceived and written by the band…
The band is Mike Adams on drums, Alien Mike E.T. on bass and guitar, and Peter J on guitar, keyboards, sequencing, background vocals, and mixing.
Shiny Happy Proggers began as an intricate and meter changing drum part laid down by Mike Adams in Nashville, TN. He then posted the part on the ’net and Peter J wrote the verses and choruses in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Pete then shipped it off to E. Stroudsburg, PA and The Alien. Mike E.T. then smoked through some most excellent growly bass parts throughout. He wrote the bridge and tastefully inserted spacy lead guitar. Mike then shipped it back to Pete who liberally sprinkled with ear candy, baked for 3 days, then mixed into its current form. This was a truly fun project, especially for 3 guys who have never even met each other! Ain’t the Internet great?
