Vertical Alignment launches new website.
In preparation for the release of their first full length concept CD "Signposts", Vertical Alignment is launching a new website at verticalalignment.com on September 2, 2005. Band and recording project coordinator Pete Jorgensen has done all the design work on the site with technical assistance from his daughter Rachel Jorgensen. "I wanted a site that was very attractive yet lean and fast loading," says Pete Jorgensen. "To that end I hand coded all pages in Crimson Editor and tried to do everything through the use of a CSS style sheet. Rachel was an enormous help with her knowledge of CSS."
The site is headlined with a graphic collage that expresses the band's Charleston, SC roots while showing their high reaching musical dreams. A central feature of the graphic is the space shuttle Discovery lifting off on her recent return to space. "Vertical Alignment has one degree of separation from Discovery because one of our guest vocalists for "Signposts", Mike FitzPatrick, is a NASA shuttle flight controller who was stationed at the Johnson Space Center in Houston for this last mission," comments Jorgensen. "Discovery has become a real symbol for me of what Vertical Alignment is really about."
The graphic is dominated on the left with a shot of one of the towers of the new Ravenel Bridge that connects Charleston with Mt. Pleasant, SC, the home town of Vertical Alignment. "The new bridge is a real Signpost for me of what God is now doing in us and in His whole Body," continues Jorgensen. "I see it as a symbol of a greater grace that is even now available to those who are sold out to Him."
Vertical Alignment will make available some free music to celebrate the launch of the site. The web radio hits "Once In a Dream" and "Feel the Light" will both be available for free downloading and listening. "Once In a Dream" also appeared on the groundbreaking compilation CPR Volume One 2 CD set which is now out of print and has only limited availability. (Vertical Alignment still has a very small supply of this collector's item. They will be available in the "buy music & stuff" section of the new site.) "OIAD is a tune from our next album, "Joseph's Dream," says Jorgensen. "We will rework the song extensively for that release. The current version is now an orphan of sorts, but we don't want it to get lost so we will give it to all of you." "Feel the Light" is a unique instrumental piece. "FTL is techno-prog with a hint of bluegrass," concludes Jorgensen. "It's definitely one of the most unique things we've ever done."
Vertical Alignment's coming release "Signposts" dominates the site. The main window uses a lightened version of the "Signposts" logo. You will also see the "Signposts" logo appearing in various places on the site. The "Signposts" logo was designed by Dan Taylor of Montana who is also doing the extensive artwork for the whole album. "Signposts" will be released later this autumn.
Vertical Alignment looks forward to your visit to their new site. There will be a guest book available for you to leave greetings or comments. The site will launch on September 2, 2005.
